Hello,
I go by Pepper in my family, so I've extend that to my online presence. I'm a CA native with English degrees in both Literature and Creative Writing. I love to read, although since graduation I've been taking a break from books. I'm anxious to find something that will pull me back in right now.
As a writer, I tend to seek out books with great character growth and a plot that's very sturdy.
Favorite genres are anything that is exciting and fantastical whether it's set in a modern city of a made up world. I tend to shy away from heavier themes.

I tend to shy away from heavier themes. -Pepper what do you mean by heavier themes? In retrospect, "heavier" is probably the wrong word. Realistic should have been what I said. I don't like real world drama or books that deal with real world issues. Cancer, Drug Abuse, and the like are not things that I want to be the central conflict in what I read. The key would being central. In my writing classes, there were a lot of students who wrote about books where real world people had sicknesses and how their families deal. I have had enough drama in my real life to read about it. I want escapism. That is not to say that I don't like dark themes in stories. But I'm about fantasy worlds, dystopian stories. and magic. I'm not interested in reading modern day, realistic stories. I used "heavier" because my writing peers in school all tended to frown on genre stories and called it "light" writing. Did I clear that up, or make it more convoluted? -Pepper

It makes sense to me. I would classify that as contemporary fiction. Its fiction, but it has no futuristic or fantastical elements.
